JUDGEMENT ERROR: This dangerous Trump criminal was just given a huge prison break

News journalist for Occupy Democrats.
Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon will get to remain free while appealing his four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress thanks to a Washington D.C. judge, making good on the judge’s order to suspend the sentence if the War Room host filed a “timely appeal.”
District Court Judge Carl Nichols granted Bannon’s motion to stay, citing the defendant is neither a flight risk nor poses a danger to the community.
It's official: Steve Bannon will remain free while he appeals his conviction on two criminal contempt of Congress charges.

In October, the Trump-appointed judge sentenced Bannon to four months in prison for refusing to cooperate with a congressionally issued subpoena. The January 6th committee referred Bannon to the Department of Justice for indictment – which it did, charging the right-wing chaos agent with two counts of contempt.
Though allowing Bannon to walk free – for now anyway – Judge Nichols condemned the Trump loyalist’s blatant disregard for the House’s authority. According to Business Insider:

Handing down the sentence, Nichols said the January 6 attack on the Capitol was “undeniably serious,” and the House “thus has every reason” to investigate it. Nichols said Bannon exhibited a lack of respect for the legislative branch in defying the House January 6 committee, even after the removal of purported roadblocks to his testimony.
“Flaunting a Congressional subpoena betrays a lack of respect for the legislative branch which represents the will of the people of the United States,” Nichols said. “In my view, Mr. Bannon has not taken responsibility for his actions.”
Steve Bannon was no longer employed at the White House leading up to the violent attack on the Capitol but played a role in the ex-President’s treasonous plot to overturn the results of the 2020 election and disrupt the democratic process. It’s widely known that Bannon was present at the Willard Hotel the evening before the insurrection – a coup command center of sorts.

With the midterm election less than 24 hours away, and speculation that the GOP is positioning for a win – Judge Nichols’s decision to pause the start of Bannon’s prison bid – isn’t the news we were hoping for.
