DESTINATION DICTATOR: Racist extremist has a master plan to combat progressives
Nick Fuentes, a right-wing extremist associated with high-profile Republicans says that America needs a dictatorship, because conservatives are in the minority. He’s calling for the GOP to exercise authority and force their way, because progressive policies, such as accepting LGBTQ people and allowing women bodily autonomy, are just too popular to defeat.
Fuentes is a provocateur who seems to get a kick out of using his media fame to offer up the most bigoted takes and extreme positions, but he’s also an influential voice on the right. Politicians including Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Wendy Rogers, who just won re-election to Arizona State Senate, have appeared at his events.
Leading a pack of trolls he calls the “Groyper Army,” Fuentes was associated with the “Stop the Steal” movement in 2020 and is known for openly antisemitic and racist remarks. His rhetoric is extreme enough that GOP leadership actually criticized two House Republicans for associating with him.
Now, along with everyone else on the right, he’s analyzing what went wrong in the midterm elections — but he’s come to a different conclusion. Rather than suggesting the GOP should reassess its priorities, he believes it should take command in a literal dictatorship.
From his post-election broadcast:
You got to get this out of your head, that there’s some silent majority cavalry that gonna come out of the woods and save us at the last minute. It’s not…That’s why we need dictatorship. That’s unironically why we need to get rid of all that. We need to take control of the media, take control of the government, and force people to believe what we believe, or force them to play by our rules.

CNN reported back in February that Republican House Members Gosar and Greene had been lightly scolded by House GOP leadership for appearing at Fuentes’ white nationalist event, the American First Political Action Conference. It clearly wasn’t enough to convince the pair to back away — Newsweek reported in September that Gosar was still promoting Fuentes’ documentary on being booted off of various platforms for his open antisemitism.
The question remains, how far will Fuentes have to go for Republicans to decide they don’t support him? Is an open call for dictatorship and minority rule in America enough — or do they support that, too?
