MASKS OFF: Donald Trump REVERSES COURSE on midterms, blames McConnell for GOP losses
Donald Trump is insisting that he’s very happy with the outcome of the midterm elections and that he’s not having rages and blaming those around him for the failure of the ‘red wave’ to materialize — but he’s also raging and blaming on social media, where he declared the whole fiasco to be Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s fault.
Trump blasted McConnell, complaining about how the Kentucky Republican allocated funds for midterm candidates and suggesting that if he’d thrown his support behind Blake Masters, the Arizona GOP candidate would have won. He also suggested that McConnell’s working with Democrats on passing an infrastructure bill last year was partly to blame.
Trump concluded that McConnell “blew the midterms,” and that he’s despised by all. He didn’t neglect to throw in a racist attack on McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, who served as Secretary of Transportation under the Trump Administration but resigned after the January 6th attack.
The former president pulled out his well-worn racist attack of referring to her as “Coco Chow,” as he bashed her husband. Chao was born in Taiwan but has lived in the U.S. since she was 8, and Trump has made racist comments about her national origin before.
On Truth Social, he ranted:
“It’s Mitch McConnell’s fault. Spending money to defeat great Republican candidates instead of backing Blake Masters and others was a big mistake. Giving 4 Trillion Dollars to the Radical Left for the Green New Deal, not Infrastructure, was an even bigger mistake. He blew the Midterms, and everyone despises him and his otherwise lovely wife, Coco Chow!”
This flies in the face of his posts over the past several days, in which he insisted that he’s not upset about the midterm results.
“Don’t believe it. I am not at all angry,” Trump posted on Thursday. “Did a great job (I wasn’t the one running).”
Regarding reporting about him looking for someone to blame for the losses, he posted on Thursday that the “fake news media” was lying:
“They MAKE UP stories, then push them down your throats!”
It only took him three days (and the Senate loss in Nevada that affirmed Democrat control of the chamber) to get around to making the rages and the blame game public.
