COUP-A-LAGO: Trump's demented demand that election loser be "installed" as AZ Governor

In an overnight temper tantrum on his special private social media site, Donald Trump demanded that the loser of the Arizona election for Governor be placed in the role anyway.

Unsurprisingly, Trump’s post was a Gish Gallop of lies, half-truths, and grievances, all of which he managed to connect to his own injured ego, and his longstanding false claim that the 2020 election was ‘stolen’ from him.

Along the way, he griped about voting machines, the January 6th Committee, and, of course, Democrats.

Lake, as she promised well before her loss, is not accepting the outcome of her election, and has filed a lawsuit demanding election documents in Maricopa County, where officials say that an issue with printers did not prevent anyone from being allowed to vote.

Her campaign has posted videos of people who say they were disenfranchised — though most of them admit they were able to cast a vote, and one standout exception admits she arrived after polls were closed.

Trump echoed and amplified Lake’s misleading claims, saying that the gubernatorial candidate herself had to cast her vote in a more Democratic-leaning area because of broken machines — although Kari gave no indication she was denied at any other location before filming an election day grievance video at a polling place.

He also described her opponent as “running” the election, although each county handles its own election day activity, and Maricopa County’s Board of Elections is majority Republican.

Trump posted:

This is yet another criminal voting operation – SO OBVIOUS. Kari Lake should be installed Governor of Arizona. This is almost as bad as the 2020 Presidential Election, which the Unselect Committee refuses to touch because they know it was Fraudulent!

The January 6th Committee, incidentally, has no role in investigating the 2020 election, and the entities that do hold that responsibility found no outcome-altering issues.

The Washington Post reports that Tom Liddy, as the head of the county’s civil division, released a statement saying that every voter was provided with legal options for casting their ballot.

Their report also shows that the number of voters affected was relatively small — only about 200 decided to travel to a different location to vote, and although most of those failed to follow instructions, only 13 ballots went uncounted.

In short, 206 voters left their original polling place for another; 122 of those were given provisional ballots because they did not properly check out at their first location (those who followed directions were able to complete a standard ballot); 109 of these provisional ballots were accepted.

Of those that were not accepted, in 11 cases it was because there was no printer error determined at the previous location, and in 2, it was due to failure to correctly submit the ballot.

While Lake’s loss was narrow, it wasn’t narrow enough to be altered by 13, or even 206, ballots — she’d need more than 17k additional votes to eke out a win.
