RIP MAGA: New poll says barely 1/3 of Republicans want Trump to run in 2024

ACHTUNG, BIG BABY: Guess who's suing CNN over 'unfair' comparisons to murderous dictator?

Someone is probably cleaning a lot of ketchup off of the walls at Mar-a-Lago right about now as a new and exclusive USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll describes support for Donald Trump as “cratered” thanks to his various legal issues combined with most of his chosen candidates bombing in the midterm elections.

And who better than USA Today to take the pulse of today’s Republican Party?

The poll indicates that Republican voters want to continue the policies Trump backs, but they just want anyone else to implement them. A whopping 2/3 of the poll’s 1,000 respondents strongly preferred Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to Trump.

What does Gov. DeSantis owe Trump? - POLITICO

This won’t sit well with Donny Thin Skin, who has a history of having problems with math.

But the poll numbers don’t lie: his own base favors DeSantis 56% to 33%.

He also won’t like that poll also found that President Joe Biden would easily beat him 47% to 40% among all voters if they were to face each other again.

USA Today also reports that “Trump is viewed less favorably by his partisans as well.” T

he percentage of Republicans who “see him favorably” has dropped from 75% in October to 64% in December, and his “unfavorable” rating has risen to 23% from 18%.

MUHAHAHAHAHAHA, that’s my kind of schadenfreude.

It’ll be interesting to see the real-life fallout from this as Trump’s remaining MAGA loyalists push to reinstate him.

But Trump the candidate is a liability at a time when the party isn’t able to unify behind him nor anyone for Speaker once the 118th Congress is sworn in and the GOP’s razor-thin majority goes into effect.

We’ll be over here enjoying our popcorn while watching them eat each other, thanks.
