HOUSE ON FIRE: GOP puts the gaslighting machine in full gear as Jan. 6 Committee set to release findings

Republicans in the House of Representatives are poised to release their own report in opposition to the January 6 House Select Committee in an attempt to paint the panel as partisan in their investigation.

Comprised of Republican members of the House assembled by Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and ultimately rejected by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the leader of the shadow panel, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) said the GOP’s report will “focus on security failures,” not addressed by the committee during its investigation.

The “shadow” panel attempted to place the onus on the Capitol Police earlier this year – accusing the brave law enforcement officers who saved democracy of being negligent and culpable in the violence of the day, Axios reported.

Rep. McCarthy has sent a request to the Jan. 6th committee to preserve all documents related to its probe.

The Republican Party’s attempts to steer the focus of the Capitol insurrection to the lack of preparedness of law enforcement fails to address the underlying issue – a sitting president tried to stage a coup to remain in power, and members of congress aided in that effort.

The 100 pages expected from the ghost panel – comprised of interviews with the Capitol Police as well as federal intelligence officials’ findings – pales in comparison to the over 1000 pages expected from the congressional anti-coup committee.

Testimony from longtime Republicans, including those in Trump’s inner circle, revealed the plot to subvert the democratic process began long before the Capitol attack.

The anti-democratic wheels were set in motion months ahead.

With one public hearing left before the investigative panel ends its run, the GOP is scrambling to counter and mitigate further damage to a party’s steep decline into political ruin.

Donald Trump himself has been on a social media rampage attempting to cast doubt on the House Select Committee’s findings and sow discontent among his rabid base.
