ACCOUNTABILITY: Here are the GOP Congressmen the Jan. 6th committee named in ethics referral

Four GOP congressmen who shirked subpoenas from the House Select Committee on Jan. 6th to testify have been referred to the House Ethics Committee for investigation.
Congressmen Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), and Scott Perry (R-PA) may soon face accountability for their anti-democratic actions.
On Monday, the House Select Committee did a run-down of their investigation into ex-President Donald Trump’s attempts to subvert democracy and overturn the 2020 election results.
Though the panel made criminal referrals on four charges for the insurrectionist-in-chief, without prosecutorial power their hands are tied with regard to the congressmen refusing to comply with their request.
But it’s not over.

“The select committee argued that ignoring congressional subpoenas — even for sitting lawmakers — sets a dangerous precedent that will hobble Congress’s powers to function effectively as an oversight body,” The Hill wrote.
With the clock ticking on the lame-duck session, and Republicans poised to take the majority in January, the congressional panel had little time left to wrap up their probe.
“We don’t have a lot of time right now,” outgoing Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said. “That’s the reality of where we’re at.”
Kinzinger, one of two Republicans on the nine-panel bi-partisan committee saw the writing on the wall.

In May of this year, Congressmen McCarthy, Jordan, Biggs, and Perry were issued subpoenas for testimony just weeks before the Jan. 6 investigative committee began its televised hearings.

All four refused to acknowledge the request.
Immediately following the Capitol riot, McCarthy condemned the violence and called for then-President Donald Trump to take responsibility for his role in inciting a violent mob that tried – and thankfully failed – to interrupt the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral win.
“The president bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters,” McCarthy said on the House floor at the time. “He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding. These facts require immediate action by President Trump.”
An executive summary released after the meeting identifies the four Republicans as GOP leader Kevin McCarthy and Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Andy Biggs of Arizona and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania.
