TOXIC ENDORSEMENT: Here’s who Matt Gaetz thinks should be Speaker of the House

Here's who Matt Gaetz thinks should be Speaker of the House

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has taken to social media to persuade his colleague Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to run for House Speaker. In an embarrassing display, Gaetz has literally been begging the soon-to-be House Judiciary Chair to seek the congressional top spot.

“All I want for Christmas is @Jim_Jordan to realize he should be Speaker of the House!” Gaetz tweeted on Christmas Eve.

A representative under investigation for child sex trafficking endorsing a former coach accused of ignoring cries of sexual abuse by members of his team is peak 2022 Republicanism.

The problem? Jordan doesn’t appear to want the job – at least for now.

Jordan has publicly stated support for Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who still doesn’t have the needed votes – and expressed concern that the GOP’s refusal to unify behind the House Minority Leader could backfire.

The long-serving Republican congressman — and the more conservative wing of the party — are worried that the antics of the Freedom Caucus could lead to the election of a more centrist Republican agreed on by both Democrats and moderate GOP members.

“I’m very, I’m concerned about that. I don’t think it’s likely, but I am concerned about it,” the Judiciary Committee member told Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle.

A notion not too farfetched after reports that retiring GOP congressman Fred Upton (R-MI) was being floated as a bi-partisan compromise – sending former President Donald Trump into a Truth Social rant at the beginning of December.

McCarthy previously lost an initial vote after Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) managed to siphon 31 votes. With Republicans facing a razor-thin majority when retaking the House in January, there’s little room for dissension if McCarthy hopes to fulfill his long-held dream of wielding the coveted gavel.

According to Jordan, he supports McCarthy because he’s committed to investigating President Joe Biden’s family.

Though it’s certain to be both a frivolous and expensive tax-payer-funded endeavor, Rep. Jordan is almost foaming at the mouth at the thought.

“I think he’s committed because he knows this is important for the country, and it’s part of our duty to get information to the American people,” Jordan told Boyle. “So let’s hope that there’s never any kind of bargain where you bring the Democrats into play because they’ll be … trying to stop investigations that are our constitutional duty to conduct.”

“Leader McCarthy has been very supportive of our efforts to get to the … facts, to get to the truth, and get that information to the American people,” Jordan explained. “If you remember, a week or so ago, my good friend and colleague, Jamie Comer, who is set to lead the Oversight Committee, did a press conference talking about the Biden family business operation and all the concerns there.”

Gaetz joins Representatives Biggs, Ralph Norman (R-SC), Matt Rosendale (R-MT), and Bob Good (R-VA), as absolute no-votes, The Hill reported. However, with Biggs throwing his hat in the ring again ahead of Jan. 3, 2023’s vote, it leaves the door open for contention with Gaetz endorsing Jordan.

In an interview with Fox News at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in August, Rep. Gaetz didn’t hold back in his sycophantic admiration of the former Ohio State wrestling coach.

“For my money, the best person to be speaker of the House would be Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio,” Gaetz said.

“Our base trusts him. He’s the hardest working, most talented member.”

You know who doesn’t trust Jordan? The dozens of college wrestlers whose complaints of sexual abuse he callously ignored – and neither should America.

Then again, it could be worse.

It wasn’t that long ago that congressman Gaetz recommended ex-President Trump be considered for Speaker of the House – then again…maybe not.
