COWARDLY CABAL: The rats who fled the ship on January 6th

What do Roger Stone, Alex Jones, Ali Alexander, Jack Posobiec, Charlie Kirk, Julie Francelli, Michael Flynn, Donald Trump Jr., Kimberly Guilfoyle, John Eastman, Rudy Giuliani, and Donald Trump Sr. all have in common?

Well, you’re probably saying, “They’re all worthless assholes,” and you’re correct.

But they have something else in common as well: When the Capitol was being attacked on January 6th, none of them were around, despite the fact that they had instigated it.

While an angry mob led by the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and the Three Percenters attacked the Capitol – the people who pushed them to do it ran for the hills.

Alexander and Jones were the closest to the attack: they made it to the Capitol steps before shitting their pants and deciding it was more in their interests to get out of Dodge.

As for the others, they made sure they were nowhere near the scene they had helped create.

It’s difficult to tell whether their actions are more along the lines of sad or laughable.

The night before the January 6th attack, for instance, Roger Stone told a crowd of some 2,000 people that he would be marching right beside them, shoulder to shoulder.

Instead, as Mother Jones has reported, he was in a nice cozy hotel room, then headed to Florida.

Julie Fancelli, the Publix Supermarkets heiress who helped finance the “rally,” decided she couldn’t actually attend because of the pandemic, then later condemned the violence she had helped create.

Jack Posobiec, who also pushed the rally, did not attend.

Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA said he was sending 80 busloads of people – but he himself did not get on one of those buses.

When asked by the January 6 Committee about his involvement, he invoked his Fifth Amendment right for every question, including when asked about his age.

Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle were paid handsomely to speak at the rally by Kirk’s organization, and pushed for the crowd to “fight.”

But they themselves went nowhere near where that fight took place.

Trump almost went to the Capitol on January 6th to lead his army of idiots against Congress, but it seems he was ultimately stymied in his attempt to go there when his Secret Service staff refused to cooperate.

He hung back at the White House and talked with Giuliani (who continues to claim that his “trial by combat” comment was not meant to stoke violence) by phone.

Suuuuure.

As for Eastman, he agreed to step down from his position at Chapman University, since pretty much no one there wanted to work with him any longer.

Let’s hope his next position is at a federal penitentiary.

In the transcripts released by the January 6 Committee, Stephanie Graham, once Chief of Staff for Melania Trump, said that she heard from inside the White House that Trump had called those he saw at the rally “trashy.” Yet he was glad to have them fighting for him, she said.

It’s hardly conclusive – sounds a bit like Trump himself, in fact (“People are saying…) — but it certainly fits the mold: Trump doesn’t care about his supporters just like he doesn’t care about the country.

He just wanted them to do his bidding.

Many of those involved later sought pardons for their actions. Many repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment before the Committee – so they did a lot of talking before the attack, but since then have decided to clam up.

At this point, even Ivanka has distanced herself from her father like he’s radioactive.

The rats have fled the ship.

But now we have to round a bunch of them up and toss them in rat prison.
