GENERAL ASSESSMENT: Joint Chiefs chair recalls “crazy” Trump’s “Reichstag moment”
General Mark Milley, the Pentagon’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, clapped back at his former commander-in-chief and told a tale of Trump’s vindictiveness in his testimony before the Jan. 6 House Select Committee.
Despite Trump’s radicalization and weaponization of the Oval Office, Milley stood strong in upholding his pledge to protect the American people from both foreign and domestic terrorists.
According to political scientist, Risa Brooks, Milley raised concerns about Trump’s lies about election fraud – and that was all it took to trigger the MAGA king.
“Milley described a ‘stomach-churning’ feeling as he listed to Trump’s untrue complaints of election fraud,” The Washington Post reported, “drawing a comparison to the 1933 attack on Germany’s parliament building that Hitler used as a pretext to establish a Nazi dictatorship.”
“This is a Reichstag moment. The gospel of the Führer,” Milley said.
The General reassured Speaker Pelosi that Trump wouldn’t start a nuclear war after the then-President’s failed coup.
“This guy’s crazy,” Pelosi said. “He’s dangerous. He’s a maniac,” The Washington Post wrote.
She wasn’t wrong.
The January 6 committee confirmed that Pelosi said, “You know he’s crazy, don’t you,” and that Milley agreed with her.
“Ma’am, I guarantee you that we have checks and balances in the system,” Milley told Pelosi.
Trump’s assault on the democratic process, whether through disinformation, or obstructing a certification of Biden’s presidential victory, or calling for the military to violently repress protests.
Claiming that the decorated general is “woke,” the GOP is poised to grill Milley on his policies seeking more diverse and inclusive armed services.
