BRAZILIAN WHACKS: Hundreds arrested in Brazil for Trump-inspired riots
There’s a former president hanging out in Florida right now who denies he lost the last election and has a tendency to encourage violence from his supporters.
Perhaps you’re going, “Wait. Which one?”
Yes, that description could apply to one Donald J. Trump, who for some reason still roams free despite massive amounts of evidence demonstrating that he directed a mob to attack the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 (not to mention the long list of other crimes he’s committed throughout his life) or Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil’s former leader.
A week after the inauguration of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, supporters of Bolsonaro – many of whom had been camped out around the capital of Brasilia, rushed the city, swarmed into the Presidential Palace, and ransacked the Brazilian Congress and Supreme Court.
At the time, Lula was in Sao Paulo, but he returned in the wake of the attack to tour the damage and lead the response. He has vowed to hold those who organized the riots responsible.
“We are going to find out who the financiers of these vandals who went to Brasilia are and they will all pay with the force of law,” he said.

There is good reason for him to have suspicions that this was not a sudden and spontaneous event.
To begin with, many of the rioters were bussed into the city.
Others gathered together from around the camps and elsewhere and walked over four miles to get to their destination.
Many of the police, meanwhile, seemed far too friendly toward the attackers, chatting with them at times and taking pictures instead of taking action.

Nonetheless, over 400 people have been arrested by Brazilian authorities in the last 24 hours – a stark contrast to the events on January 6, 2021 in our capital, when only a handful of people were arrested and most were allowed to walk unrestrained back out the Capitol building.
Since then over 950 have been arrested, yet the FBI is still trying to track down a fair amount of people who were there that day.
Of course, one major difference between our attack and the one that occurred in Brazil is that our president at the time had no real interest in capturing the attackers.
He did essentially nothing, much as he did on the day of the attack itself, meaning that investigations had to wait a couple of weeks till Biden took office.
While Trump called his attackers “patriots,” Lula has rightfully defined those who stormed the city on Sunday as “fascists.” His minister of justice, Flavio Dino, referred to it as a “terrorist attack.”

Speaking of which, it should definitely be of interest that, as previously reported by Occupy’s Ty Ross, Bolsonaro’s son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, also a congressman in the Brazilian government, went to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump at the end of October (after his father’s loss), and spoke with former Trump campaign head Steve Bannon, as well as with Trump advisor Jason Miller.

And now Eduardo’s daddy is in Florida too, it seems.
What a coincidence!
Daddy Bolsonaro did put out a statement condemning the attacks that took place in his name, but it was tepid at best and he is yet to condemn the formation of the camps where his supporters meet to organize and banter about the election conspiracy theories he promotes.

We’ll see if the wheels of justice ever catch up with Jair.
