STILL UNPRESIDENTED: Supreme Court REJECTS case demanding Donald Trump's reinstatement

The judicial system ruled against Donald Trump and his allies in case after case following his 2020 election loss. Now one more case has been rejected. This time at the Supreme Court, the nation’s highest court.

Trump himself didn’t bring this particular unfathomably ridiculous lawsuit, which names as defendants hundreds of individuals who the plaintiff, Raland Brunson, blames for what he sees as the terrible injustice of Trump’s removal, by failing to (in his view) properly investigate the “enemy” that was (alleged) election fraud before certifying the 2020 election.

The defendants he names include a long list of House Representatives and Senators, from both sides of the proverbial aisle, as well as former VP Mike Pence, Vice President Kamala Harris, and President Joe Biden.

His allegation is as simple as it is laughable — he asserts that all these individuals “purposely thwarted all efforts to investigate” the much-investigated and never-proven allegations of election fraud, and that he “was seriously personally damaged and violated,” and that Trump’s ouster not only violated the rights of every U.S. citizen, but “perhaps the rights of every person living.”

He demands that the court respond to this case and to the “act of treason and act of levying war on the U.S. Constitution” that he alleges Biden’s win amounts to, by charging all the named defendants and “having them removed from office without further delay.”

From his petition:

“These serious offenses need to be addressed immediately with the least amount of technical nuances of the law and legal procedures because these offenses are flowing continually against Brunson’s liberties and life and consequently is a national security breach.”

With an argument like that, is it any wonder that the Supreme Court declined to hear the case?

It’s also no surprise that the only attorney of record listed for the petitioner is himself.

Somewhat more surprising is that a handful of right-wing media personalities, such as Stew Peters, who just last week presented the case to their viewers as though it had merit and a real chance of success.

Peters deems Brunson a “determined patriot,” and, with a straight face, insinuated that his petition could unseat hundreds of Members of Congress.

His full filing can be read here.
