FED UP: Former Secretary of Transportation has had enough of Trump’s racism
To her credit, former Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, wife of Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, weathered Donald Trump’s blatantly racist attacks on her with class, finally speaking out on Wednesday after yet another unprovoked comment from Trump.
Yet Chao, who stayed with Trump for virtually all four years of his administration, only resigning to save her image from some criticism after the January 6 insurrection, said nothing and did nothing to stop Trump’s Muslim ban.
Nor was she bothered by the other racism and bigotry he displayed on a regular basis.
Looking to instigate in retaliation against Chao’s husband, whom the former president evidently perceives as insufficiently supportive of efforts to resurrect his tattered reputation, Trump has targeted Chao in terribly vicious ways, ignoring the fact that, while being born in Taiwan, Chao came to the US at age 8 and is an American citizen.
In fact, she went to my high school in Syosset.

And not that Trump cares at all about history or knows Mao Zedong from his left elbow, but Taiwan is (very adamantly) not part of China, despite what Xi Jinping and his party may assert.
Nonetheless, Dirty Donald has continued to make his racist remarks and push the narrative that Chao is somehow a foreign agent.

Chao at last decided to stand up for Asian-Americans. She issued a statement that said:
“When I was young, some people deliberately misspelled or mispronounced my name. Asian Americans have worked hard to change that experience for the next generation. He doesn’t seem to understand that, which says a whole lot more about him than it will ever say about Asian Americans.”
Excellent. Very well put.
Now where was this Elaine Chao when Trump went after Muslim immigrants or anyone he felt came from “shithole countries?”
The answer: nowhere to be found.
America is desperate for heroes right now, and that’s understandable.
We want to see the villain – Trump – get slapped. And so anyone who hits at him we rush to.
But there’s a reason Elaine Chao is married to Mitch McConnell.
She’s no hero; never has been, never will be.

Took immigrant kids and put them in cages
And restricted the ability of people to claim asylum
Which makes me pity her even more as Trump levels racist attacks against her

A hero would have spoken up when it would have meant more – would have defended the maligned and oppressed groups that she was not herself among.
Chao did not do that.
She did nothing until the monster came for her.
This isn’t Spiderman vs. the Green Goblin; it’s Godzilla vs. Mothra: they’re both bad.
And while we can be happy that Chao delivered a blow against her former boss, we should not forget all the support she offered him in the past when he was using his vitriol against women, Muslims, blacks, and others.
