TIMESUCK: House Ethics Committee to investigate a pesky problem created by Republicans

In a not-so-magnanimous move, Rep. George Santos (R-NY), has announced he will reserve taking his place on two committees until he’s been exonerated amid allegations of campaign finance violations and fraud.

Good luck with that, sir.

During a recent closed-door meeting of Republican lawmakers, Santos told his colleagues that he will not be accepting his position on the House’s Small Business and Science, Space, and Technology committees until the situation was “cleared up.”

“The congressman is reserving his seats on his assigned committees until he has been properly cleared of both campaign and personal financial investigations,” Santos’ spokesperson, Naysa Woomer, said.

Despite calls for the dishonest GOP legislator to resign after he was exposed for habitually lying – not just on his resume and the campaign trail, but now – the congressman has been resilient in his determination to remain in office.

This appears to be a quasi-compromise.

With a razor-thin Republican majority, House Republicans can’t afford to lose Rep. Santos’ vote altogether.

Shortly after officially being sworn in early January, Rep. Kevin McCarthy appointed the controversial congressman to important committee assignments, a decision that sparked immediate backlash and criticism.

Not only is Santos under investigation for potential campaign fraud, but it’s been discovered that there’s no traceable flow of income to justify the Republican Jew-ish pariah’s claims of being a wealthy multi-millionaire.

Placing a known liar and alleged fraudster on the congressional panel tasked with making decisions on the financials of small businesses and rooting out fraud doesn’t sit well with political leaders on either side of the aisle.

It’s not known whether Rep. Santos merely made a prudent decision, or was forced to make it by those disenchanted with their colleague who – on paper at least – appeared to check all the boxes needed to pander to the public.

But one thing is certain – George Santos is untrustworthy, to say the least.

Voters and the American people should take his words with a grain of salt.

A tiny one.
