PAYDIRT: 110,000 reasons why AG Letitia James is the big winner against Trump again

New York Attorney General Letitia James released a statement applauding an appeals court’s decision to uphold a previous court’s ruling that found former President Trump in contempt for failing to comply with the office’s civil investigation, ordering Trump to pay $110,000 in fines.

“Once again the courts have ruled that Donald Trump is not above the law,” AG James wrote.

The Supreme Court of New York’s Appellate Division, First Judicial Department, upheld Justice Arthur Engoron’s April 2022 order finding the ex-President in civil contempt,  imposing a daily sanction of $10,000 per day until Trump and his legal team turned over requested documents and evidence in the state probe.

Trump’s legal team stated that after due diligence, the requested documents failed to be located, despite providing substantiating evidence to back up their claims.

The appeals court concluded that the failure to “provide any search or document retention policy” details per the subpoena’s explicit instructions for doing so, “prejudicially violated the lawful, clear mandate of the court, of which he had knowledge.”

The state prosecutor’s nearly four-year investigation into the Trump Organization has gained steam in recent months as James’ continues her aggressive campaign to hold Trump accountable.

“For years, he tried to stall and thwart our lawful investigation into his financial dealings, but today’s decision sends a clear message that there are consequences for abusing the legal system. We will not be bullied or dissuaded from pursuing justice.” – AG Letitia James

Represented by controversial New Jersey-based attorney Alina Habba, Trump has been batting a consistent zero in his litigious attempts to circumvent the judicial process and avoid being held liable for multiple acts of fraud committed through his family’s namesake company.

Both Habba and her boss were fined nearly $1 million for filing a frivolous lawsuit against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – who was ultimately exonerated – and wasting the court’s time.

The judicial walls are closing in on Trump as the American public, and the court system grows tired of his continuous abuse of the legal process.

And James is leading the charge.

While $110,000 may seem like a drop in the bucket for a supposed billionaire, this is still a win for the New York Attorney General’s office in its pursuit of justice.
