COUNTERPUNCH: Nikki Haley hits back at a guy who isn’t even running yet
Nikki Haley goes on the offensive in her run for the 2024 GOP nomination by taking shots at her potential opponent – and rumored Republican frontrunner – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
The former governor of South Carolina criticized DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” legislation signed into law last year–for not going further.
“Basically, what it said was you shouldn’t be able to talk about gender before third grade, Haley said at a New Hampshire town hall. “I’m sorry, I don’t think that goes far enough.”
The Parental Rights in Education bill prohibits discussions about gender identity and sexual orientation in elementary grades K-12.
“I think Ron’s been a good governor. I just think that third grade’s too young,” the presidential hopeful told Fox News Digital.
Haley has been controversial since jumping on the MAGA train.
The flip-flopping ambitious politician has earned a reputation for straddling both sides of the political and ideological aisle.
Born to Sikh immigrants, the Trump-appointed former U.N. ambassador appears to have adopted a far-right platform despite saying she wouldn’t run against the ex-President if he announced a third bid for the White House, by pandering to the conservative-leaning base.

Former President Trump seems to be unbothered by Haley’s announcement, though she managed to gather a larger crowd than at his own low-energy launch.
While many aren’t optimistic about Nimrata’s chances in the race, it certainly makes for interesting political entertainment.
And Haley’s decision to take her first shot at Gov. DeSantis, who has yet to officially announce he’s running, rather than Donald Trump raises more questions than it answers.
As the culture wars intensify, it’s Republican on Republican in a fight to regain and retain power, with the Christo-fascist agenda moving full-steam ahead as the GOP does its best to out-fascist each other.
“You need to get the parent’s permission to do that,” Haley said. “That is not something that schools need to be teaching.”
Given the Republican Party’s increased attacks on public school education and stifling educators’ ability to have agency over their classrooms and curriculum, if the likes of Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis get their way – schools won’t be teaching anything.
