EURO-TRASH: CPAC embraces White supremacy under a sneaky alias

During CPAC, attendees — at least, those who identify themselves as “European American,” a thinly disguised code word for “White” — are being invited to a special reception held by an exclusive group dedicated to the “unique culture” of the folks they describe as “European Americans.”

How, exactly, does the group define a “European American?” They’re not saying, explicitly, but their website describes America as a European country and describes Americans as “once scattered all over Europe” — appearing to exclude from the definition of “American” anyone whose origins are not European, including apparently the indigenous Native Americans whose land the Europeans invaded as imperiously as Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine.

The event is to be held on Friday, March 3rd, the penultimate day of the convention, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, where CPAC is also being held. Currently, neither CPAC organizers nor the Convention Center have yet responded to requests for comment; this space will be updated if that changes.

The organization boasts that Nigel Farage — who has also spoken at more conventional CPAC events — appeared at their last reception, and states that the event is invitation-only.

The European American Community did not immediately respond to a request for more information on what one must do (or be) to merit such an invitation.

On their event page, the group states:

“The European American Community is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that promotes closer ties between America and Europe, while patriotically celebrating the distinct cultural, political, economic, and spiritual achievements and traditions of European Americans.”
There is no released list of speakers for the reception. Still, advertising for the event includes images of individuals the group seems to consider ideals of their European American heritage, including John Wayne, Uncle Sam, and Donald Trump, as seen in their tweet below.
This specific organization is relatively new with its social media pages less than a year old, but its ideology is not new.
The Anti-Defamation League covered the right-wing American attachment to European Ethno-Nationalism last summer when a similar event was held during CPAC in Hungary:
“[Y]oung American right-wing activists attended the CPAC Hungary conference and held their own meeting with youth leaders of xenophobic and ethno-nationalist European political parties. The gathering, ‘The Future of Western Renewal: A Transatlantic Patriot Summit,’ was a veiled reference to ‘Western Civilization,’ a term often used by groups that advocate preserving the white European social, political and cultural ‘character’ of nations, and reject and demonize immigration, multiculturalism and, often, minority populations in their countries.”

The fact that CPAC has an invitation-only event seemed designed exclusively for people who think European culture is superior to that of all others seems to be the very definition of White supremacy.
That it is being celebrated openly at CPAC demonstrates the reason that CPAC has long outworn any usefulness as a legitimate political conference and should be relegated to the same category as a Ku Klux Klan rally.
