ONWARD: NY Attorney General Letitia James says ENOUGH to Trump’s endless delays
Donald Trump is known for using delay tactics to put off consequences in his legal battles, but New York Attorney General Letitia James is demanding that he face the music, with no more dodging or putting off the inevitable.
James is asking the court to reject his latest plea for delays, expressing concern that he may try to push deadlines out past next year’s election if given the opportunity.
Trump’s delays, not just in terms of court cases, became a meme during his presidential term, when he kept insisting that his healthcare plan would be revealed in a few weeks (spoiler: it never came).
Now his court delays are piling up, as alleged illegal activity, some of it from before he ran for president, finally makes it to the justice system.
In this case, Trump and family are facing accusations of financial misdeeds at his Trump Organization.

The company itself has already been found guilty of tax fraud and ordered to pay restitution, but in the case against Trump and his oldest three children, demands for delay continue, with Ivanka Trump most recently requesting a 6-month reprieve.
Now AG James has responded, and is asking the court not to grant any more delays, warning that if Trump is able to extend into 2024, he may use campaign season as an excuse to put off consequences indefinitely. From NBC:

“When the calendar turns over into 2024, Donald J. Trump will be in the midst of a campaign for President,” she added. “Defendants have used his campaign as a reason for delay in both 2016 and 2020. There is no reason to believe 2024 will be any different.”
Trump is in the midst of a long list of legal issues aside from James’ lawsuit, including the Fulton County investigation into election interference; the Manhattan case regarding campaign finance violations through hush money payments to hide an alleged affair; and the Justice Department’s ongoing probe of election interference, among others.

He rages about them on social media on a near-daily basis, with the latest all-caps tantrum arguing that holding him accountable is actually the real election interference. (That doesn’t seem to be the conclusion reached by jurors in Fulton County, though.)
