UNSPEAKABLE: Why did Jerusalem Post invite Proud Boys pinup Ron DeSantis to Israel?

I’m a Jewish American who isn’t at all religious, but I do get extra angry whenever any antisemitism goes unchecked.

So when I heard that The Jerusalem Post and the Museum of Tolerance actually INVITED completely intolerant Florida antisemite Ron DeSantis to deliver the KEYNOTE SPEECH at their “Celebrate the Faces of Israel”  event next month, my 100% Ashkenazi blood started boiling.

DeSantis is going to stand on land taken from Palestine to lie about his support of the Jewish people. It’s the epitome of abhorrent.

That tweet in Hebrew translates to: “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he will visit Israel and speak, among other things, at the @Jerusalem_Post conference in Jerusalem. I’ll be there. won’t you come???”

NO THANK YOU PLEASE.

You really invited Reichstag Ron, the same guy who wants his state’s schools to never teach students the truth about the Holocaust or any of America’s racist history? That goes beyond basic “tolerance” and well into self-hating territory.

DeathSantis is the driving force behind a recently passed new bill that essentially looks the other way at any Antisemitic hate crimes, offering a slap on the wrist with a fine so light, the fees wouldn’t even cover the cost of a typical Passover seder.

The GOP pretends it cares about Jews and Israel because it’s politically smart to court the Jewish vote, but the reality is that they only care about other rich white Christian Republicans because they’re all giant racist hypocrites.

This is the epitome of performative politics. Using Jewish people to fund your hate campaign is just the lowest.

And let’s not forget that Ron was namechecked in the white supremacist Proud Boys’ January 6 manifesto.

Twitter users–Jews and gentiles alike–expressed their anger at the announcement, not that it’ll change anything.
