34 FELONY COUNTS! Donald Trump ARRESTED! Indictment details within!

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, Donald J. Trump made history, going through the arraignment process and becoming the first former president in U.S. history to be criminally charged. The facts in the case accuse him of falsifying records to cover up not only alleged affairs, but an alleged secret child as well.

The complete indictments are below.

He was charged with and plead not guilty to 34 felony counts of financial crimes, described in a press release by the District Attorney after his arraignment quite simply as “Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree, a class E felony, 34 counts,” all stemming from reports that he falsified business records after reimbursing his former attorney, Michael Cohen, for hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to silence her story about their affair almost two decades ago.

Trump has spent weeks attacking the District Attorney and the presumed key witnesses on social media, adding the judge’s name once it was released, all the while denying all allegations.

When it was revealed that there had been conversations with law enforcement to prepare for the arrest, he called for protests, made up an arrest date (two full weeks before his actual arraignment), and fundraised off his claims.

However, while protests materialized, they were not on the level of January 6th.

New York police kept control of the crowd, with no major outbreaks of violence.

Trump also did not get the perp walk that rumor said he hoped to exploit for martyrdom and financial benefit, and was not handcuffed. At this time, no mug shot has been released publicly.

Judge Juan Marchan did not allow cameras, phones, or other devices into the courtroom for the arraignment, preventing footage that could be utilized politically.

Trump’s attorney, Chris Kise, said the former president was likely to make a statement to the press after the arraignment, but he was seen emerging from the courtroom without a pause to speak, and his motorcade left quickly.

Trump also promised a speech from Mar-a-Lago at 8pm. His attorneys have indicated they think he may be hit with a gag order, although it’s unlikely such an order would be so broad as to prevent him from releasing his statement.

The full indictment lists each count, describing them essentially identically, other than date and check number:

The defendant, in the County of New York and elsewhere, on or about February 14, 2017, with intent to defraud and intent to commit another crime and aid and conceal the commission thereof, made and caused a false entry in the business records of an enterprise, to wit, an entry in the Detail General Ledger for the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, bearing voucher number 842457, and kept and maintained by the Trump Organization

The other documents in the case make bigger allegations — one of the stories Trump is accused of suppressing comes from a doorman who was trying to share information about an alleged child Trump fathered with an unidentified woman, as well the already-known alleged affairs with Karen McDougal and Stormy Daniels.
