IMPEACHMENT: Trump attacks Texas Gov. Abbott over a very touchy subject
Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was impeached by his own party on Saturday night over multiple allegations of misconduct.
The impeachment vote sailed through — 121 to 23 — with the vast majority of state Senate Republicans aligning with Texas House Democrats.
And that’s not sitting well with Paxton’s “great friend” and fellow (twice) impeached MAGA loser, Donald Trump.
Paxton had been a major MAGA mouthpiece on all of the right-wing fake news shows, and Trump has rewarded that loyalty by calling him, “one of the most hard-working and effective Attorney Generals in the United States.”
Trump-to-English translation: “I need Ken Paxton to help me overturn votes in Texas in 2024.”
Paxton has been credibly accused of bribery, corruption, and various other abuses of his office relating to his personal dealings with a key donor.
KKKen has been temporarily removed from office and will remain so until the Texas State Senate can finish its trial against him.
(Oh, if only that was a thing that happened both times Donald Trump was impeached. I also had daydreams about Mike Pence getting impeached as well so we could have had a President Pro Tem Nancy Pelosi, but I digress.)
As per his usual M.O., Trump defended KKKen by shifting the blame for Paxton’s egregiously awful behavior to someone else: Texas Governor Greg Abbott, also a Republican..
Abbott has proven himself to be even more terrible than most Trumpy government officials, but he’s just not doing enough awful to keep the twice-impeached two-time loser of the Popular Vote happy.
Grifting Grabby McGolfcart sounded the anti-Abbott dog whistle in a Truth Social post Saturday night saying Abbott is “MISSING IN ACTION” on Paxton’s impeachment.
Donny All-Caps followed that up with a weak threat:
“Hopefully Republicans in the Texas House will agree that this is a very unfair process that should not be allowed to happen or proceed—I will fight you if it does.”
Aw, he’s gonna fight you with his widdle baby-man fists, look out Texans!
While Trump isn’t wrong about Abbott’s silence regarding Paxton’s criminal behavior, the Texas Governor will now have to speak up and appoint Paxton’s replacement.
However, no amount of all-caps bloviating will be able to save KKKen now.
Watch for Trump to keep unironically using Paxton as a distraction from his own legal woes.
