An Ohio Republican wrestling coach turned Congressman is trying to use the House Judiciary Committee like a criminal defense team for Donald Trump

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) wants to know how many agents Special Counsel Jack Smith has working on his dual investigations of January 6th and Trump’s possession of boxes of classified documents and whether these agents have worked on any of the other investigations of Trump.

In a new letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Jordan claims that the collusion allegations were “debunked” (false — the Mueller report laid out multiple instances of inappropriate contact), using this as grounds to investigate the FBI’s investigators working for Smith.

The former Ohio State wrestling coach also demanded information on the gathering of intelligence and evidence against the former president, writing:

“It is clear that Congress must consider legislative reforms to the FBI, and the Committee has been engaged in robust oversight to inform those legislative proposals. In the interim, however, due to the FBI’s documented political bias, the Justice Department must ensure any ongoing investigations are not poisoned by this same politicization.”

Awkwardly for Jordan, his thinly-veiled projection and demand for information on FBI agents and the Trump investigation come at a moment when the public is already aware that Trump is asking his attorneys and other allies for a list of names of the people investigating him.

The Republican’s newest round of Congressional attacks on Federal law enforcement started with the Durham report.

John Durham’s report on his investigation started during Donald Trump’s presidency, failed to support right-wing claims that Trump’s 2016 campaign connections with Russia were being probed only as a political attack or “hoax.”

These facts wouldn’t be obvious, though, to anyone relying on Representative Jim Jordan for information.

What’s the plan once the Ohio Republican political terrorist gets names and information on all agents involved with investigations into his (alleged) criminal activity?

All Trump has said is that he plans a “purge” when (if) he’s re-elected — which is, in itself, an act of retaliation far outside any ethical bounds.

The twice-impeached, once-indicted (so far) ex-president has a history, though, of blasting witnesses, judges, prosecutors, and anyone else involved in his legal woes on his widely read social media accounts.

And there’s a history of MAGA fans making violent threats against those same individuals.

House Republicans have already threatened FBI officials with legal action over a refusal to provide unproven oppositional material for Trump to use against President Biden in his 2024 campaign.

Now, Jim Jordan appears to be openly helping the wannabe dictator gather data with which to attack FBI agents.
