PROFANE: Bible REMOVED from Utah School district for “sex-ridden” contents

The Bible has been temporarily removed from elementary and middle school libraries in a Utah school district after someone challenged its “sex-ridden” contents.
Last year, Utah’s Republicans passed a bill to restrict schools from possessing “pornographic or indecent material.”
While the Bible will be “retained for high school libraries,” seven to eight elementary and junior high schools will be impacted by the committee’s ruling during the challenge review.
First filed in December 2022, the complaint essentially trolls a group called Utah Parents United, which had lobbied strongly for the passing of HB0374, Utah’s Sensitive Materials in Schools bill.
HB0374 “prohibits certain sensitive instructional materials” in public schools while also defining what those “sensitive” materials are.
The complaint includes an 8-page document listing Bible verses to back up claims that the not-so-Good Book is rife with “many examples” of the kinds of “sensitive materials” that have led to other bans.
This challenge to the Bible for being “sex-ridden” is absolutely glorious, and the comments from the challenger make my little atheist heart so very happy.
“Utah Parents United left off one of the most sex-ridden books around: The Bible,” the person wrote, noting that the Bible includes mentions of incest, bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, and rape, among other things.
“I thank the Utah Legislature and Utah Parents United for making this bad faith process so much easier and way more efficient,” my newest anonymous hero continued.
“Now we can all ban books and you don’t even need to read them or be accurate about it. Heck, you don’t even need to see the book!”
But wait, there’s more!
“You’ll no doubt find that the Bible, under Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227, has ‘no serious values for minors’ because it’s pornographic by our new definition,” the challenger chided.
“Get this PORN out of our schools! If the books that have been banned so far are any indication for way lesser offenses, this should be a slam dunk!”
Karma may not be directly referenced in the Christian version of the Bible, but there’s plenty about reaping and sowing, brothers and sisters!
“Ceding our children’s education, First Amendment Rights, and library access to a hate group like Utah Parents United seems like a wonderful idea for a school district literally under investigation for being racist.,” the challenger adds.
Tasty, right? But wait, what was that last thing?
Two years ago, Black students told the Department of Justice about extreme racial harassment in the Davis County school district.
The DOJ’s two-year investigation eventually led to a settlement with the school district, but I guess not enough people learned the right lessons from it.
This is the same Davis School District that one of the Republican state Senators in Utah explained had books that “would have made Monica Lewinsky blush.”
Story continues below tweet:
.@gopTODD says he received several books from the Davis School District that contained explicit content “that would have made Monica Lewinsky blush.” He said the district declined to remove the books and that’s why the bill is necessary. #utpol #utleg

Since your intrepid contributor here is a devout atheist who hates MAGA hypocrisy, this story just pleases me.
And lots of others on Twitter.
The Bible has been removed from all elementary and middle school libraries throughout the Davis School District in Utah after a parent fed-up with Republicans targeted LGBT+ books and authors challenged its contents as “one of the most sex-ridden books around.”

Donald Trump to faith leaders in Iowa today: “We have to bring religion back into our country".
So it's a good day to repost one of my favorite Trump videos-Trump and his “favorite” book, the Bible.
