SORE LOSER: MAGA candidate resorts to hiring hit men after loss

He called himself the “MAGA King” and when voters didn’t agree, he hired two shooters.

Solomon Peña wanted to be elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives, running on a platform of Latinos for Trump, calling himself the MAGA King, and borrowing slogans like “drain the swamp.”

When he lost, he likened himself to Donald Trump, touting that he had never conceded his loss.

At the same time, according to the Justice Department, he was carrying out his own plot behind the scenes.

First, he visited the homes of four legislators, allegedly trying to convince them not to formalize the results of the election on the basis that he claimed the outcome was “rigged” (sound familiar so far?) — then he called on others to commit violence on his behalf.

He’s accused of hiring at least two individuals, father and son Demetrio and Jose Trujillo, to help him carry out drive-by shootings on the homes of those same legislators. According to the Justice Department:

“Following the Bernalillo County board of commissioners’ certification of the vote, Peña allegedly hired others to conduct the shootings and carried out at least one of the shootings himself. At least three of the shootings occurred while children and other relatives of the victims were at home.”

All three are charged with conspiracy, interference with federally protected activities, and offenses related to the firearms used in the shootings.

For Jose Trujillo, this includes possession of a machine gun, which was used in one of the drive-bys, as well as an additional charge for intent to distribute fentanyl.

Aside from the charges stemming from the MAGA candidate’s violent refusal to accept his loss, investigators have been probing whether his campaign was funded by drug money, according to the Albuquerque Journal.

As of January, that investigation had already uncovered that individuals Peña recorded as donors denied having contributed funds to his campaign.

The outcome of that aspect of the investigation has not been released, but at this time no charges from it have been announced.

And yes, if you’re wondering, Pena has proudly shared that he traveled to support Trump on January 6th.

Below, you can see Pena’s November 15th post expressing his support for Trump and stating that he was exploring options after his own loss — the drive-by shootings would begin three weeks later.
