DUMPED: Gavin Newsom is LIVID over GOP immigration stunts

The new right-wing terror tactic aimed at immigrants and asylum seekers just landed in California, and Governor Gavin Newsom isn’t letting it slide.

Newsom has ordered an investigation after he says more than a dozen migrants were, in his words, “dumped on the doorstep” of a Sacramento church.

He wants to know who was behind the transportation of the individuals, what their motive was, and whether the action was legal.

If, as has been alleged in similar cases, the migrants were lied to about where they were being taken and what they could expect at the end of their flight, there could be a case for kidnapping.

The migrants were reportedly transported from Texas, first to New Mexico and then to California via a chartered jet.

While it’s not yet clear who organized this round of transport, this is a known tactic from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who previously transported immigrants from Texas (that’s right, not even his own state) to Martha’s Vineyard, in Virginia, and has expressed the intent to continue the program.

Defenses of the method tend to conflate documented asylum seekers with undocumented immigrants, but the con could be deemed criminal regardless of the victims’ legal status.

Newsom said: “We are working closely with the Mayor’s office, along with local and nonprofit partners to ensure the people who have arrived are treated with respect and dignity, and get to their intended destination as they pursue their immigration cases.”

“My administration is also working with the California Department of Justice to investigate the circumstances around who paid for the group’s travel and whether the individuals orchestrating this trip misled anyone with false promises or have violated any criminal laws, including kidnapping.”

Just last month, DeSantis signed new legislation that would expand his migrant transport program, hiring three new vendors to carry out the transportation program, according to Politico.

That was before he officially announced his presidential campaign, which leans heavily on his promises to be more extreme-far-right even than his GOP predecessor and primary opponent, Donald Trump — and that’s a tall order.
