POLITICAL: Florida didn’t prosecute sex felons in GOP counties for voting illegally

A Republican state attorney in Florida declined to prosecute six voter fraud cases against known sex offenders in 2020 because they voted in GOP counties.

Each had voted in the pro-MAGA Lake County despite being convicted of a felony sex offense or murder, which should have made them ineligible to have their voting rights restored under Florida State Amendment 4.

The blame is squarely on the former felons, who attested the following on their registration form: “I affirm that I am not a convicted felon, or if I am, my right to vote has been restored.”

But they still voted anyway — because Florida.

In his decision justifying letting MAGA sex offenders off the hook, State Attorney Bill Gladson said the six “couldn’t be prosecuted” because their fraud “wasn’t willful” after they were “mistakenly given voter registration cards.”

OOPSIE!

Meanwhile, 20 ex-felons living in mostly Democratic counties were quickly jailed after being arrested by the recently established “Office of Election Crimes and Security.”

Yes, that’s a real thing — because Florida.

It’s just the latest Orwellian effort by Florida Gov. Ron “Kinky White Boots” DeSantis.

His new “election police force” will round up any suspicious Democrats while leaving MAGA miscreants alone.

DeathSantis had announced the initial arrests at a press conference in the extra-Blue Broward County just five days before the 2022 primary election.

Reichstag Ron warned that his uniformed stormtroopers officers would be making more “imminent” arrests of anyone found to have voted illegally.

But since the initial round-up, the “election police” unit has only made four other arrests, according to an annual report by the Florida Department of State.

A lawyer representing two of the people arrested by Governor Gitmo’s Goon Squad said he was “offended” by DeSantis and his anti-Democrat discrepancies.

“The people are similarly situated, and there is no factual way to differentiate between the cases,” said Roger Weeden.

Weeden told the Orlando Sentinel that all signs point to sex offenders in Lake County being let off easy while those in blue counties weren’t.

“Some people are being prosecuted under the same factual scenario and others are not,” he added.

BECAUSE FLORIDA.
