BREACH: Fired propagandist tormented by Murdoch’s lawyers
Rupert Murdoch’s lawyers have notified his fired former star host’s lawyers that the failed prime-time cash cow violated his contract with the launch of his own Twitter show.
His breach of contract claim sets the stage for Fox News to take legal action against Tucker Carlson, the Swanson Frozen Foods heir.
Tucker’s Twitter “show,” which essentially was just him sitting there doing his usual overwrought faux-histrionic performative propaganda, drew a whopping 5 million viewers.
While Tuckums’ lawyers maintain that Twitter isn’t a direct competitor for Fox, their lawyers see it differently.
Carlson was axed from Fox in April following the record $787 million defamation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, which sued the disinfotainment network for airing false claims about the company.
Essentially, Fox fired Tuckums but still owns him until January 2025, when his contract runs out.
The legally binding agreement with Fox stipulates that Sucker is “prohibited from rendering services of any type whatsoever, whether ‘over the internet via streaming or similar distribution, or other digital distribution whether now known or hereafter devised.'”
Fox News general counsel Bernard Gugar sent a letter to Carlson’s lawyers saying Tuckums “is in breach” of his contract, which he had re-negotiated in 2019.
“In connection with such breach and pursuant to the Agreement,” the letter reads in part, “Fox expressly reserves all rights and remedies which are available to it at law or equity.”
However, if you can find a time when Tuckums has listened to anyone else, I can wait.
Falsely believing his rich white male privilege extends farther than it actually does, Tucker immediately started badmouthing Fox upon his firing.
Tuckums accused Fox of “fraud” and whined that they breached his contract when senior executives “went back on promises made” to Carlson “intentionally and with reckless disregard for the truth.”
I have visions of two-year-old Tucker crying about someone promising to take him out
for ice cream despite a freezer full of free frozen stuff and finally getting his way because he just wore them down.
Anyway, Murdoch’s pockets might have been emptied a bit recently, but the Fox News will still have the advantage over the overgrown frat-boy bully.
I doubt Tucker will stop his Twitter tantrums anytime soon, but at least it gave users something else to laugh about on Wednesday besides the impending Trump indictments.
