BAD FAITH: This Florida Republican wants to impeach Biden for drugs & prostitution
A Florida Republican congressman promises that he has proof of crimes committed by President Joe Biden and that he’ll be releasing it on Friday.
Greg Steube (R-FL) plans to file an impeachment resolution in the House of Representatives before close of day on Friday, accusing President Joe Biden of a long list of crimes and misdeeds, including bribery, extortion, and “financial involvement in drugs and prostitution.”
He listed some of the types of “evidence” that he was touting, but seemed to be referring to a string of debunked claims his fellow Republicans keep repeating.
They’ve claimed that Biden was reaping financial benefits from his son Hunter’s business dealings and that those dealings included a pay-for-play scheme that involved making contact between his father and foreign agents.
Yet, their own super special star witness, Devon Archer, testified before Congress that Biden did not speak to Hunter’s business contacts about any matters of substance, only about casual topics like the weather.
That’s not stopping Steube, though. He’s promised he will hold a Friday press conference to share his “proof.” He said:
“Tomorrow I intend on filing an impeachment resolution on Joe Biden for bribery, for extortion, obstruction of justice, fraud, financial involvement in drugs and prostitution…We have all the facts and evidence now…You have witness testimony, you have financial records, you have the laptop, you have text messages, you have phone conversations, you have all of this evidence now to corroborate and support impeachment articles against the president, and I intend on filing those tomorrow.”
His witness testified that Biden had not discussed business with his son’s associates. The financial documents Republicans have produced have not implicated the president.
Hunter Biden’s laptop, if it ever held evidence of crimes, is likely useless to prosecutors thanks to the chain of evidence being disrupted by Rudy Giuliani and whoever else was allowed to fiddle with it before it was turned over to federal law enforcement.
As for the text and phone conversations, nothing they’ve produced so far implicates President Biden in anything even shady, much less criminal.
If they have any evidence, why have House Republicans so far been limited to appearing on right-wing media where they dodge questions about what they can prove?
