SLIMY BEHAVIOR: Giuliani FLIPS OFF bankruptcy court restrictions

giuliani

Rudy Giuliani, facing criminal charges in Georgia and Arizona in addition to a recent civil ruling that he owes $148 million to two women he defamed and falsely accused of election interference, is in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings. He filed almost immediately after being found liable and hit with the defamation verdict, but that’s hardly the only unpaid bill in his stack.

Throughout the defamation hearing, the judge repeatedly called out Giuliani for ignoring orders, obligations, and deadlines. The latest report is that he isn’t respecting the directives of the bankruptcy court any more than he did in the last courtroom.

Giuliani has been caught making payments on credit cards without permission, meaning even less money to eventually distribute among his creditors. Newsweek reports

“Outlining spending by Giuliani that has not been approved by a bankruptcy court, the committee alleged in the court filing, “In January, he made various unauthorized payments, including payments of thousands of dollars for the credit card bills of Maria Ryan and one of his businesses.”…[His creditors] now want a Manhattan bankruptcy judge to mandate that he must file “delinquent monthly operating reports” for the months that he has also not filed any reports of his spending.”

Because he is in bankruptcy, Giuliani is supposed to seek permission from the court for his spending.

It’s also not clear why he’s paying Maria Ryan’s credit card bills. Ryan is his co-host on one of Giuliani’s radio shows.

Giuliani’s relationship with these creditors has already been contentious, with back-and-forth filings arguing over whether he should be able to keep a $3.5 million condo in Florida. Giuliani implied in a filing that if he wasn’t able to keep the expensive property, his only other option would be homelessness, not downsizing.

They’ve asked a judge to make the former NYC Mayor purchase homeowners insurance on the condo, which they fear could be a significant loss in the event of a catastrophe, and noted that instead of covering this necessary cost, he’s spending thousands per month on credit cards, pouring money into entertainment including Kindle, Netflix, and other streaming apps, as well as “numerous Uber rides,” according to Forbes.

His creditors are also accusing Giuliani of hiding assets to avoid the responsibility of paying his debts, according to Bloomberg.
