LAME: Trump SWINDLES auto workers with fake union attendees

auto workers rally

Did anyone really think that the multiply-indicted former president Donald Trump was offering support to unionized auto workers?

When President Joe Biden joined United Auto Workers (UAW) on the picket line in Detroit on Tuesday, supporting their fight for better pay, hours, and treatment, Donald Trump — who claimed Biden stole his idea — headed to Michigan the following day.

That’s where the similarities end, however.

While Biden spent his time listening to union workers, Trump’s presentation was a show, a performance — complete with actors.

That’s right, the former president’s speech was given to people who are not union members, and some who are not even auto workers, despite the big signs they held proclaiming themselves “union members for Trump” and “auto workers for Trump.”

Whether Trump’s campaign staff organized actors and fakes to boost Trump’s morale, or whether the conniver-in-chief was in on it isn’t known.

The fakes did not say whether they were paid, or simply took it upon themselves to misrepresent their identities — but they did admit their signs were a lie. Detroit News reported:

“One individual in the crowd who held a sign that said “union members for Trump,” acknowledged that she wasn’t a union member when approached by a Detroit News reporter after the event. Another person with a sign that read “auto workers for Trump” said he wasn’t an auto worker when asked for an interview. Both people didn’t provide their names.”

In fact, it’s not really clear who the audience was or why they were present, since the shop Trump visited has about 150 employees, and closer to 500 people showed up for the event, according to the Daily Beast.

While putting on a pretense of supporting the union, Trump actually used his rhetoric to direct attacks against the union, telling the crowd to contact the UAW president and impress upon him that if he could get all the union members to support Trump, he’d be able to “take a vacation.”

He also made it clear that, while he claimed to support the workers, he’s not behind their cause at all. In the clip below, Trump actually declares, “I don’t think you’re picketing for the right thing.”

Union workers know it too — watch them respond in the short clip below.

The Wizard of Oz has nothing on Donald Trump, whose smoke and mirrors trickery is equally inauthentic.
