FIGHT: How physical did Lauren Boebert get with her ex-husband?

BOEBERT

As you may have heard, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has divorced her husband and is moving to a different county.

Rep. Boebert and her ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, have had a large public spotlight on their contentious relationship over the past year.

It culminated on Saturday night, reportedly, with a violent encounter at a restaurant.

An aide for Boebert has said that the trouble started earlier in the day, when the Congresswoman picked up one of her sons and had to physically hold her ex off from hugging her against her wishes.

She says that Jayson later called and asked to meet at a restaurant to apologize.

There, however, Jayson ended up calling police and alleging that he was the victim of domestic violence.

Here’s where reports differ: while one version of the story has Lauren Boebert punching her ex-husband in the face twice, the congresswoman’s aide reports that in fact, he was reaching toward her aggressively, and she was merely holding him off. The Daily Beast reports:

“The police did come, but they arrested no one, the aide said, adding that a friend drove Boebert home, and that she and her former husband were both safe. Contacted Saturday night, Silt police would not comment other than to confirm an “active investigation” into the alleged events, along with the existence of a police report.”

It’s far from the first time the police have been called regarding the Boeberts this year.

Last May, for instance, one of the teenage sons called 911 to report that his dad was being violent, and throwing him around the house.

A second call followed, with the Congresswoman on the line, assuring police there was no problem.

In a separate incident the previous year, a neighbor called police alleging that Jayson Boebert had destroyed their property and made threats. The complainant expressed concern because, they said, both Boeberts tend to be armed.

The two couldn’t even make it through divorce proceedings without a blow-up.

The marriage was formally dissolved in October, but the process wasn’t all smooth. The Colorado Sun reported:

“The public portion of the dissolution of marriage hearing was over in minutes, but that came after nearly 40 minutes of negotiations behind closed doors when shouting between the Boeberts, and a baby crying, could be heard through the locked door of the courtroom.”

After it was all over and the two were outside, Jayson reportedly approached a reporter who had shouted questions, and placed his tongue on the camera lens of the reporter’s phone.

As for the most recent incident, it’s reportedly still an open case, and it’s not clear if anyone will be charged.
