Star comedian Dave Chappelle hosted Saturday Night Live the weekend after the Presidential Election, and while he hilariously roasted Trump for a variety of authoritarian, bigoted, ignorant, and arrogant traits, he also said America should give him a chance.

Last night, at the Robin Hood Foundation benefit in New York City, Chappelle apologized.

“”I was the first guy on TV to say ‘Give Trump a chance,'” he said. “I f*cked up. Sorry.

It takes courage to own up to one’s mistakes, and Chappelle should be applauded. Now, we need to hear those words from the White House, Congress, and 62 million voters (not to mention non-voters) who put us in this situation.

Video from the event is below, followed by Chappelle’s SNL monologue from November 13 of last year.
