Trump’s surprise visit to Walter Reed hospital sparks speculation about health-related “resignation”
Donald Trump made a previously unannounced and unexpected visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center today, supposedly for the purpose of completing “portions” of his annual physical, three months ahead of the usual schedule for such examinations.
The sudden move without prior notice inspired a round of speculation among political observers over whether the visit was part of an elaborate plot by the Republican party to have the president resign for “health reasons” now that the impeachment evidence against him seems irrefutable and likely to only get worse as additional witnesses testify about the bribery and extortion plot to taint the 2020 presidential elections with foreign interference.
After Trump returned to the White House from the house of white-coated doctors, press secretary Stephanie Grisham declared that Trump was “healthy” and “without complaints.”
Judging from the president’s Twitter feed, it can be safely said that the second half of Grisham’s status report on Trump was a total lie since that social media account has been filled with complaints daily since the president first came under investigation by the staff on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team.
Oddly, one of the most prominent voices espousing the theory that the presidential physical was a sham exam meant to set up a denouement for the Trump administration that does not involve a long prison sentence was a member of the Republican Party, the proudly never-Trumper pundit Cheri Jacobus.
Jacobus explained her reasoning in a pair of Saturday afternoon tweets.
