Trump rally advance staff gets a head start on Covid-19 infections
NBC News is reporting that six members of the advance team for Donald Trump’s “Coronapalooza” rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma tonight have already tested positive for COVID-19.
NBC‘s White House correspondent Geoff Bennett broke the story on Twitter, including the Trump campaign’s response that “quarantine procedures were immediately implemented” and the empty reassurances that “No COVID-positive staffers or anyone in immediate contact will be at today’s rally.”

The news comes after the Oklahoma Supreme Court dismissed public health concerns about the rally becoming a “superspreader” event and ruled yesterday to allow it to continue despite the rapidly surging number of new coronavirus cases — both in Oklahoma and nationwide — as Trump’s push to reopen the nation’s economy to help his electoral future before states meet CDC guidelines to do so has the predictable results.
As previously reported, Trump has downplayed the risks of attending his rally as overblown despite requiring attendees to sign waivers absolving the Trump campaign of any liability for their contracting the virus at his event before allowing them to attend.
While the rally organizers — at least those not now in quarantine — have promised to hand out masks at the entrance to the venue, wearing masks will not be mandated and reporters on the scene are saying that few of the people queued up to get into the rally are wearing masks and practicing social distancing as the CDC recommends.
With even his own rally staff decimated by the COVID-19 virus, Trump truly has become the pied piper of pandemics, the doctor of death.
Only truly disturbed, insane, misanthropic people without an ounce of intelligence could still be supporting this president who has now overseen the 2.2 million cases of coronavirus and nearly 120 thousand deaths that have occurred on his criminally irresponsible watch.
Unfortunately, the turnout for Trump’s rally proves that there are still some people like that out there, and they are willing to risk their lives and those of everyone that they subsequently come into contact with to pledge their fealty to their dubious leader.
While Trump may wallow in self-pity and victimhood, it’s the rest of America who truly deserves the pity as we are the real victims of Trump’s ineptitude and venality.
